What is a host family meal?

This is an English translation of an article previously written by Hosma. We use crystals of the wisdom of mankind. Delivered to English speaking people too! It is a translation I thought. It may be strange English, but I’d be grateful if you received it. Then please!

Thanks. Hosma feels unhappy when hungry. I want kids to eat as much as they want. Overeating is an element of obesity, so it can be adjusted. Child obesity is the parent’s responsibility!

Today I would like to talk about my meal.

I leave home at 5 am for work. Of course we don’t share breakfast with anyone. And Hospa is a group who does not eat in the morning. So, at home, I don’t say “It’s time for breakfast! Get up!”

Breakfast is prepared and in the refrigerator, so you can eat it yourself. Some international students eat around 8:00 and some eat in the afternoon. It ’s not lunch.
It seems that many children are sleeping slowly until the school class. When you are a student, you want to sleep as much as you can in the morning. Understand.

Our children have breakfast around 7-8pm. In the morning, it’s a simple bowl (only a side dish on rice) or cereal or bread. We do not make elaborate things.

There is no need for the host family to prepare for lunch on weekdays. It would be fun for them to think about what to eat in the destination country. It will be an important moment to learn about Japanese culture.

Whether or not lunch on Saturdays and Sundays depends on the designation from the school and the homestay contract with the international student, but since I work on Saturdays, it is a style to make lunch and eat it.

The most weighty meal of the day at home is dinner. It seems that it is said that it is better to eat a lot during the day and light at night in the diet, but maybe many homes have dinner with the highest number of dishes and the amount is good think. In the morning and afternoon, I feel like I need to prepare a good meal for dinner, even if I do not do it.

But making it every day is quite difficult. Dinner time is set around 19:00, but when I come home (18:00), preparation time is short and I feel a little pressure.

But the kids are small and I don’t want to delay the meal start time anymore! !

So in an hour, I went shopping in a hurry, took me to KUMON, set rice in the rice cooker, prepared side dishes and miso soup…

や っ て _ (_ ^ )

There was almost no eating out at my parents’ home, and my mother handmade it from scratch. So there is resistance to using retort and semi-cooked ingredients, and it is impossible to take out the prepared dishes as they are! ! ! I thought

But I can’t say that right now. I’m tired.

Just fry, bake, meat and cabbage. And so on. At first there was resistance, but once I started using them, it became much easier to cook rice after returning home. I try to make it myself as much as I can, but when I am busy or feeling upset, I am an encouraging ally of a dual-working host mother.

Many Japanese cook properly, but when I couldn’t make it, my homestay coordinator also said, “Eat this (a dish, frozen food, retort food, etc.)!” I think that I have to do it properly every day when there are international students, but I do not mind any coordinator and it is OK.

“If you don’t have dinner, please give me around 1000 yen.” “Frozen foods are fine, so please prepare something and don’t exchange money.” There are some differences between cases.

So, when I’m busy, I’d like to enjoy dinner time with everyone by using prepared foods and frozen foods.
